Surry Hills company provides holistic hampers to aid cancer patients’ recovery

Two Surry Hills guardian angels are giving patients the tools to battle cancer in the form of a collection of holistic hampers.

After separate bouts with cancer, Judi Bastin-Wagner and business partner Jodi Lawton decided to use their
personal experiences to help others by providing a collection of hampers tailored for cancer patients.
Likened to a survival kit, the hampers contain many essential and useful items geared towards cancer
treatments and endorsed by cancer care specialists, such as nourishing food supplements and chemical free
personal care products.
Ms Bastin-Wagner said she wanted to take some of the stress out of treatment.
“Both Jodi and I had breast cancer so we did chemotherapy and surgery and afterwards we decided to create
something that was from a user friendly point of view rather than a sentimental gesture,” she said.
“I have also been with my mother-in-law through her first chemo session and it has made me reflect on my own
treatment.
“I remember the nurse telling me what I will need like hand sanitisers because you can’t have germs, fluoride
free toothpaste and all of these other things.
“The fact is, though, you are not listening to the nurse properly because you are too busy going through the
stress of what is happening.
“So I thought why not put all of these things together in a box. These hampers have things you need, they are
not chocolate, which is a nice gesture but it doesn’t help the person get through the treatment.”
Holistic Hampers currently sell up to 10 different hampers and 15 per cent of online sales go to cancer support
charities, “any other money goes back into purchasing the hamper contents.” Details: holistichampers.com.au
